About Cal-Waste Solutions
Cal-Waste Solutions (CWS) is a leader in zero-waste management, committed to operational excellence, safety, and regulatory compliance. With a fleet of trucks operating daily, ensuring drivers complete their Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) is critical for fleet safety, liability reduction, and regulatory adherence.
CWS needed a simple, efficient, and cost-effective solution to ensure that drivers complete their pre-trip and post-trip DVIRs. Existing in-cab systems on the market were expensive and overloaded with unnecessary features like GPS tracking, media uploads, and complex communication tools.
Rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all platform, CWS sought a targeted solution—a “surgical tool”—to address one essential issue: real-time DVIR compliance tracking.
Key issues included:
Field teams had difficulty receiving timely updates on new safety procedures, project changes, or urgent notifications.
Tracking whether workers acknowledged safety updates or submitted required compliance reports was a manual, time- consuming process that often led to errors.
Field technicians submitted photos and reports via email or paper forms, creating inefficiencies and increasing the likelihood of lost data.
Cal-Waste Solutions needed a platform that could integrate communication, compliance tracking, and real-time updates, all while being accessible to their remote teams across multiple locations.
CWS partnered with TeamLynQ to implement a simple, structured, and cost-efficient DVIR compliance system using SMS-based forms. The goal was to provide drivers with a fast and intuitive way to confirm inspections, reducing compliance gaps without requiring additional hardware or complex integrations.
Key features utilized by Cal-Waste:
Drivers receive an SMS at the start and end of their shift prompting them to complete their DVIR.
The driver is guided through a structured, mobile-friendly form—scrolling through key inspection points.
Drivers confirm completion with a simple Yes/No or report specific mechanical concerns.
If an issue is flagged (e.g., brake failure, hydraulic leak), the system escalates the report to supervisors.
Every response is time-stamped and archived, providing audit-ready records for compliance tracking
Within the first few weeks of adopting TeamLynQ, Cal-Waste saw significant improvements in communication, safety compliance, and overall team efficiency.
Drivers were completing inspections more consistently
Ensuring compliance without disrupting workflow
Mechanical concerns were escalated immediately.
Time-stamped records provided legal protection
By focusing on a precise and effective solution, CWS was able to ensure compliance, enhance fleet safety, and reduce operational risk—without the complexity or cost of traditional in-cab systems.
Looking ahead, StreamTech plans to expand their use of TeamLynQ’s features, including advanced data analytics and custom integrations, to further optimize field operations and continue delivering high-quality service to their clients.
Next Steps: Expanding the System to More Areas
Encouraged by early success, CWS is now scaling TeamLynQ’s SMS compliance system to more drivers and additional operational areas. The platform’s flexibility allows for customization, including brake performance inspections and other safety measures, to meet CWS’s evolving needs.
